   At the Hybrid Academy (HAMA) we focus on Fitness and Self Defense for adults. We do it in a physically and mentally challenging way so you achieve your goals without the boredom and frustration of traditional programs. And you'll grow personally in the process as well. Regardless of your focus, fitness or self-defense, we have programs to fit your needs.
   Have you ever seen a real fight that looked anything like the scripted, fancy move filled, fight scenes in TV shows or movies? We teach a mixture of martial arts used by Ultimate Fighting Champions, taught to US Navy SEALs, and best suited for real life. Real fights are up close and personal against people who really want to hurt you, or worse. They happen quickly in places like crowded restaurants, parking lots, sports stadiums, or on the road. A single blow can disable you and fights always seem to end up a mixture of hitting and wrestling. These situations are no time to try fancy high kicks or other complicated moves.
   You need to defend yourself no matter whether opponent is hitting you or trying to grab you. That's why we teach you how to use hard hitting straight forward techniques from Thai Kickboxing combined with grappling techniques from wrestling and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. These are uncomplicated techniques compared to traditional martial arts.
   For Example, The Taekwondo Reference "Modern Taekwondo: Official Training Manual" is 256 pages with 1200 photographs. That's a lot to learn!

   Traditional approaches to fitness are boring! After a while you get tired of mindless repetitive routines interacting with machines. Our approach is different-designed by an accredited martial arts and fitness expert. You will be thinking, moving, striking, and interacting with other people. Ever see a professional fighter train? They get in a ring and work with a partner that moves, hits back, and makes them think and react. Now we promise you won't get pummeled like a sparring partner in boxing: we've developed very safe ways to train. Compare that to going to the gym to do the same thing on the same machines over and over, and over again. You can also compare that to traditional martial arts programs. You will spend hours standing in place doing the same move over and over. They do that because most martial arts have many moves to learn. Putting them altogether in a useable way takes dedication to lots of repetitive practice.
